Popping with Positivity
Today we had the first event of our mental health series, and we had a great turnout! According to our google sign-up sheet we were supposed to have twenty people, but forty students showed up! This event took place in the library, and we played the movie on a projector. We had some issues with the audio not being loud enough, but the tech guy came and fixed it. Earlier this week we purchased a few bags of popcorn and cups from the Dollar Tree. We then went to the library before our event started and poured the popcorn into the cups. We also had to set up the movie on our laptop and connect it to the projector. Our next task was to prepare a sign -in sheet. We created a spreadsheet in which the students typed their names saying they were present. We then printed and cut out the list of names to put into the drawing. After the entire series is completed, we will draw one name from the bucket, and they will receive a prize. All in all our first event was really successful, and I am looking forward to the other events!

What is it? A new project I have been working on with some other students involves a mental health series. This project is aimed to boost mental health and bring joy into our school with fun events. We began our planning process and started to brainstorm ideas for these events. The Events The first event is a day filled with board games. The second event is called "Cookies and Canvas" which consists of painting and eating desserts. Our next event is called "Popping with Positivity," and we will show a movie and provide popcorn. Our fourth part of the series is a jam session in which students come to play music. The next event is yoga, and we will invite a yoga instructor to lead the session. The final event is called "Calming Canines." This will most likely be the biggest hit because we plan on bringing dogs in from a local animal shelter. The students will have to pay $3 in order to spend 10 minutes with the dogs. The money will then go to the animal shelter. For each event we will also have a drawing as an incentive to come. We will be standing at the door as the students come in and will write their names down and put it in a bucket. After the whole series has been completed, we will draw from the bucket of names, and the winning student will receive a prize. Logistics Before we began the series, we had to talk to our assistant principal. We made a small powerpoint explaining our ideas, which included our event ideas. She was on board with our ideas and was eager to help. Our next task was to schedule the dates for our events. We want our events to take place during our homeroom so it won't interrupt with classes. We will also send out a sign up sheet to all of the students in order to know the amount of supplies needed for each event. Our flyers for the events
